Social Services Director at Marquis Care at Hope Village Awarded Scholarship Based on Commitment to Senior Care

Marquis Employee Plans to use Scholarship for Masters Social Work Program at
Portland State University

Marquis Companies, a skilled nursing, assisted living and home health care company, is proud to announce the recent achievement of Haseena Vaswani, Social Services Director at Marquis Care at Hope Village. Haseena, a seven year veteran at Marquis, was awarded the Pinnacle Quality Insights Scholarship through the Oregon Health Care Foundation (OHCF) on January 8, 2010 for her contributions to the Oregon senior community.  

“Haseena was awarded the Pinnacle Quality Insights Scholarship because of her demonstrated commitment to making a positive difference in the quality of life of the seniors she serves.  In her social services role, Haseena puts into practice her core values of respect and reverence for elders, which has enriched the lives of the residents and enhanced the sense of community at Marquis Hope Village,” comments Janel McKenna, Executive Director, OHCF.

The Pinnacle Quality Insights Scholarship was established in 2008 alongside the more than 50 OHCF Scholarship Programs awarded annually across the state. The programs provide professional development opportunities for those who work or seek to work in the long term care profession with the hope of retaining experienced and educated caregivers and ensuring that Oregon elders receive quality care.

Two $1,000 Pinnacle Quality Insights Scholarships are awarded each year with recipients chosen based on education, work and volunteer experience along with a brief personal essay describing what drives the applicant’s work in the long-term care industry.  Haseena’s essay focused on her experience with Alice, a resident at Marquis Care at Hope Village. Through New Chapters, a program at Marquis Companies that provides residents with the opportunity to fulfill their lifelong dreams, Haseena was able to carry out Alice’s dream of returning to San Francisco. In return, Haseena has realized the power of genuine senior care and plans to pursue her passion throughout her studies at Portland State University.
